rainy night
finally, the rain returns.
i spent most of the night at home, i love rainy nights especially when i am at home
sitting on the couch reading or journaling and have some music on.
i came across this passage today, i would say, the entire book of Malachi,
i haven't read that book much, i mean does anyone else read that book (it's the book
right before the book of Matthew, the last book of the Old Testament ...) if you haven't even seen that portion of Bible before, i suggested you take a look at it ..
it's a warning from the Lord to the Israelites, while the Israelites ask God back .." did we really do that ?" ... many times we did asked some questions like that, knowing the answer is yes, and yet at the same time we tried to cover that up by some other stuff that we did that might look nice outwardly ... here are a few verses that really struck me ..
Malachi 1:6 "A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?" says the LORD Almighty. "It is you, O priests, who show contempt for my name.
did we give God His respect, many times we've tried NOT to break the civil law, or even moral laws, but how much respect did we give to God?
let's worship Him.

ramblings
it's been a while since i last posted stuff on my blog (last monday),
many thing had been happening,
my life's been really eventful for the last few days.
i had a good time hanging out and getting to know my new buddies
here in Oregon, Adam,Chris,Robert,Dallas,Natelie,Hillary,Renjy and Alisa are all
really really really really awesome folks (for those who are coming up here .. i think you'll get to meet them ... ) anyways .. Saturday i went downtown with the Johnsons (Andrea and Stacy), they are both really neat people that used to live in East Asia with their missionary parents and thus made them really cool people to hang out with .. Sunday i hung out with my other new found buddy Jack, also from Taiwan. it's fun hanging out with him and listening to him pouring out his heart / head to me ... it's great to get to know another guy , he's really amazed by the love of Christ and the love from Christians .. and i think that's a great thing ...
and of course today .. Adam called me up and asked me if i wanna go to the bonfire get together at Alisa's parent's farm .. it was FUN .. we had hot dogs , smores .. and country music , boy i missed TEXAS .. lol .. anyways it's always good to be out in the country .. though i do love the city too ... ahh .. it had been a different life up here ..

Down in the hood
i won't say Portland Downtown is ghetto, it's not actually,
well they even tried NOT to call it downtown, they called it
the City Center , just like most Asian countries called their downtown
i bet the Europeans do the same thing too , so i guess they tried to
distinguish themselves from the rest of the cities in America.
Anyways, i went downtown last night , more specifically the campus of
Portland State University and hang out at the International Coffee House,
it's like an outreach thing for the international student/visitors/professionals
to go, so i went (i met a guy named Jack who brought me there, and he's from Taiwan , and his friend Yvonne went with us too) It was fun, they were talking about the meaning of Love , ah how timely that is , so i got two doses of love "messages" in two days , that's not that bad. i got to meet some really cool people from all over the world, from United States to France , Malaysia to Central Asia to Russia and of course Japan, there's a lot of Japanese last night , i love how they dressed , very hip i would say . Anyways, after the Coffee House we went to Burnside Bridge, such a nice bridge i would say, i love the skyline of Portland , especially when you are by the Willamatte river , with those neon lights and tall skyscraper , i absolutely love it !
Anyways, i'll definitely go back to that International Coffee House to make some friends , i guess it's always fun to meet new people , and their staff is constantly reaching out to the students and share the Gospel to them one way or the other.
So, that is really cool. Next week, they are having Japan night , which means Sushi , Sake , etc. i think i'll be there !
So, i love Portland City Center ,
it still gave me the feeling of late 1800 / early 1900 feel (which i LOVE ) and
bunch of coffee shops ...
well that's my blog for the moment.
ahh .. i woke up to the music of Newsboys ( Not Ashamed ) and Destiny's Child (Soldier) .. that's what i need to be.

dot Net or NOT ?
~ technical entry ~
dot net framework is some great stuff,
yeah i bet you've read so much about it now,
or you've used stuff that is based on the dot net framework,
so i learned how to program in asp dot net this week,
that was cool ... and now i am learning asp 3.0
the dad of asp.net ... it's not as nice as asp dot net
it's a little more confusing ...... yeah
so for those of y'all who wanna learn to program computer ...
try visual basic dot net .. it's pretty neat ...
for those who LOVE object oriented stuff .. go learn C Sharp
i bet i would love C Sharp since its syntax is SO SIMILAR to good old Java ...

i guess i'll just grab some roses at some vendor downtown..
they seem to have some fresh flowers ..

South Bound Bus
i hop on the south bound bus,
to the destination where almost everyone else is going,
they called us the race without cars,
we are the latinos , caucasians , africans and asians,
we are the singles , married , males and females,
over there was that lady with 3 little kids,
and there was that guy with the bike,
or the latino guy who is trying to earn a living for his family,
so welcome to America,
this is something that i haven't seen before,
it has opened my eyes,
like we are all moving towards the same destinations,
the destination would be to live life ,
some just barely make it for the day,
some felt what they have is not enough,
some just looking for more stuff to fill the void in their hearts,
so we reached our destination,
and we get down from the bus,
in the matter of seconds ,
we were dispersed into the crowd,
and lost in the sea of advertisement .......

million dollar baby
so i am blasting switchfoot thru my roomate's surround sound system in the living room, and me sitting on the couch typing this blog ....
i just went and saw Million Dollar Baby with Andrea and her aunt, i was kinda dissappointed at the ending , which is a pretty surprising ending , i didn't think it would happened that way, anyways, another thought provoking movie, what have you done with your life, what have i done with my life, have we ever gone out and fight, fight for our dreams, yet once we get to the top, or on the way to the top we get the blow, the blow from someone else, from circumstances ... the blow from the most unexpected person ... climbing the ladder of dreams are not easy, you know it , i know it ... is it so much about fame or is it for the game?
i don't know ... sometimes we are just stuck in this cycle ... stand , climb and fall like the song by Lifehouse , once you get to the top, so what? a few things to brag about , but that's about it .. ain't it funny? haha .. remember this rap by Kanye West ..

But the people highest up got the lowest self esteem
The prettiest people do the ugliest things"
is it all?
the American dream ...
i see people working at that everyday,
i found myself at that sometimes,
what exactly is that?
own a house? own a car? marry your college sweet heart?
computer engineer? be the next Donald Trump? or Bill Gates ...
or is that our dream to be the next Billy Graham?
the next Jim Elliot ..
i don't know what dream do you have,
i am still struggling with my own,
i am a software engineer ...
is that all?
i know there's more to life than this,
but when and how,
which way should we go,
just like DMB singing .. "Where are we going .... i have no answer for you"
there's life in Christ,
i agree .....
and what will Christ wants us to fight for ....
what is that dream ..
what is that fight ...
do we really find that out
or do we just pretend we know
and think we are at the top of that game too ..
and are we waiting for a blow to bring us down too?
i guess i am just tired of it all ..

she saw the world,
she saw the fame,
she got the fame,
she's winning the game,
then it came the blow,
she can never make it up again,
and she asks for death ..
are we to that point yet,
to the point of asking the death to ourselves
have we seen the world and say it's just vanity,
and live for something else,

Twenty - something ?
welcome to the world of post-college ,
well i am not exactly done with college ,
i am just taking a break from it while working with a hi-tech company up in
the Pacific Northwest ...
i started to wonder what people do after they get off college,
and move to a new city to start a new life,
no friends , no relatives , no nothing ..
(sure that's might be kinda extreme because you'll always try to go somewhere
that you know at least one person , but in this case it's a little bit different .. )
here's my life ..
waking early in the morning (say around 6.15 am)
get ready to work and head off to work around 6.40 am,
have breakfast at the cafeteria,
then go to my cube,
read my emails,
look at my task list,
do the stuff i need to do,
eat lunch,
go back to work,
get off work at 5.00pm
then go home and cook (if i m not tired)
watch some tv,
read some books,
be bored .. ...
read the word ..
write some stuff .....
that's about it ...
boring huh
i think other people have more interesting lives than i do ..
i still try to figure that out ..

East Bound Train
it's raining out there,
it's ice cold in my heart,
with music pumping to my ears,
and my head bobbing with the beat,
so do the person sits next to me,
i guess i've seen my clone,
there's so many of them,
i don't know what they are thinking,
but i guess they listen to what the world has to say,
with IPOD in one hand and self-help book on the other,
are they under some kind of spell?
am i being watched by them too?
All we are looking for is the trutmeaning,
we are all tired of the lies yet we listen to them,
i've found the truth,
then what?
why don't they ask ? Are they tired of the answers too?
or is it better to find out yourselve than to be told ...
these are just my thoughts on the east bound train ..

un-familiar ground
hey ... (instead of good ol' howdy)
welcome to my life in the Pacific Northwest ...
it's been kinda weird last few days ..
doing things that i normally wouldn't do like
going swing dancing .. that is such an awesome experience
though i am only an amateur .. i got friends that would love to dance with me
(thanks to Becca , though i don't think you'll be reading this .. )
anyways ..
how would you feel waking up Saturday morning not knowing what to do
because you usually spend your Saturday's morning visiting nursing home
and Saturday afternoon hanging out with your buddies?
i didn't know what to do,
i made myself some simple breakfast ... then surf the web ...
boring comparing to my other lifestyle ...
i did hung out with people Saturday night,
thanks to the party invitation from new peeps that i just met (Chris,Amy,Alisa,Becca,Mike,etc.)
and so i went over and hung out with the 20 somethingers .. fun fun fun .. though
i am the youngest guy there .. we had pizza and we played Mexican Train (a game i've never played though i am from Tejas ... )
what about Sunday morning ..
usually i woke up knowing what to do ..
meaning either going to worship practice or sunday morning setups or if i woke up kinda late
i'll be just going to church (maybe giving a ride to someone else .. like say Chris ) ..
so i woke up .. make myself some breakfast .. read some .. then what ?!
well .. i walked to the closet Metro Station took the Light Rail to the Milikan Way Stop (ie. next to the Nike HQ) .. waited for the bus for 20 mins then take the bus to church ..
i've never really done that in America .. taking Bus to church ..
so it had been some different experience for me here in the Northwest ..
apparently .. Portland is a BIG BEER town ...
people drink beer like water (even Christians .. yes .. well those over 21 years old)
well i start work monday morning ..
should be a brand new experience ..
i really gotta start work ,
because i am tired of sitting at home.

God's grace and our faith
so i visited "The Flavor" last night,
a Portland Area Singles Ministry / Young Adult Ministry ..
met some pretty neat people ranges from College Students that hip (ie. punk-ish with cool hair)
and white-collar technical people that are relevant (ie. bar hoppin after Bible study ... ) and
neat Praise and Worship led by an Indian dude with a EE degree .. sweet huh ...
well .. anyways .. the Pastor gave a very basic yet importand teaching last nite,
he used verses from the book of Galatians 2:17-21 ... which is living by faith by the grace of the LORD .. he preached the basic Gospel .. ie. living by faith thru grace ... and not living in a work based life .. which is easilly to be fell into ... so anyways .. instead of trying to live by our own strength .. let Christ live thru us .. let the change comes from inside instead of a temporary outside change ... ahh that takes patience .. anyways ..
i am going to Swing dancing tonite ...
yeap .. friends that i met at The Flavor invited me..
so i'll go though i am HORRIBLE at dancing
but that's ok .. there's always lessons.

a Portland Area Singles Ministry / Young Adult Ministry ..
met some pretty neat people ranges from College Students that hip (ie. punk-ish with cool hair)
and white-collar technical people that are relevant (ie. bar hoppin after Bible study ... ) and
neat Praise and Worship led by an Indian dude with a EE degree .. sweet huh ...

Portland City Center .. again
so i was kinda bored today (well i have a few more days til my internship starts with Intel)
anyways ..
i went and rode the MAX Trains again ... it's a fun experience ... it only took me about 15-20 mins to travel to Downtown Portland , fun huh .. and on the way there i can read books (and i did) or listen to some CDs (well once i get a CD player of course or iPOD) .. anyways .. i actually travelled up West to Hillsboro today .. and i did visited Downtown Hillsboro ... Hillsboro is HUGE (ie. 80,000 people) slightly bigger than College Station .. but the Downtown is like downtown of any small size city think Crocket,TX but a lot more nicer .. anyways .. i lived in Beaverton which is more ghetto than other suburbs of Portland or Portland itself .. then i rode the train downtown .. saw some interesting people , i heard people were protesting downtown so i was like sure let's go take a look and say something good abou Bush (cuz almost everyone else is a Bush Basher) .. here's some stuff i saw .. " American Liberty , R.I.P , 1/20/2005 " or " 4 war years " , or " **** Bush " ok just guess those **** that could be any cuss word .. but then i bumped into some Protest Warriors ... check out their websites http://www.protestwarrior.com/ , which is pretty cool , i gave them some High Fives and took some pictures with them ... i might even join them next time if they have another rally (i was thinking going along with them today .. but it's kinda late .. well it gets dark here around 4.55 pm) .. anyways .. oh yea the downtown trip .. went to a really cool mall .. and saw the only other SAKS 5th Ave on 5th Ave outside New York , had some good coffee .. saw a lot of people who looks like me .. ie wearing headphones all the time (except i m not today) .. saw a lot of different kinds of people .. i saw people dressed in the Medieval Times , Punk , Most Fasionable Clothes (that makes you think that they are either the models or they owned that particular store ... or... w/e) .. saw Asians,Africans,Caucasians,Hispanics,Republicans,Democrats, and i think Green Party people is everywhere too ..
i love downtowns .. it energized me .. in a sense ..

Trip to Taipei
sorry for not written for a few days,
my fam and i took a trip to Taipei , the capital city of Taiwan,
it's a BIG , no , HUGE city ,
we rode the Metro Rail almost everyday and that;s basically our main transportation ...
honestly i've never seeen so many people before ...
during rush hour , Taipei Main Station is like JAM Packed ... and you've got instructions written in chinese and english but also being read out in 3 different chinese dialects and english, crazy huh ..
that was fun ...
i got an opportunity to meet my cousins that i've never met before and that was really cool,
i met almost all my cousins .. and hung out with them ... somehow we got to talk about politics and society stuff ... my girl cousin is really well read and know whole bunch of stuff and full of ideas ...
and she told me bunch of the problems that she saw in this society (she's gonna be a social worker) .. so that was interesting :o)
i've got some pictures... and i really need to post'em up here ...
i'll try to do so ....
oh btw ...
i'll be moving up to Portland,OR next monday ...

Welcome to the planet, welcome to the fall out ....
stepping back into the world of Asians is truly a new experience,
this is the first time for myself to truly see the Chinese/Taiwanese culture,
and it's pretty "culture-shocking" ... hehe ...
welcome to the planet ... a planet full of materialism, full of false gods , fantasies, and yet hard-working people and many wrong ways to heaven .. people tried hard to do good things or live good lives .. and a place where the gospel of Christ is really really needed ...
i love big cities .. yeap i bet pretty much everyone knows that about myself... suddently i am kinda
tired of it .. the city that i am in right now .. is a BIG city .. i went to New Year's Count the other day,
about 100,000 people showed up at the City Stadium for the party .. crazy huh .. the city is pretty much 24/7 .. there's people in need EVERYWHERE .. but there's always temptations everywhere ... i saw so many people at one of the many malls today .. so many people whose future are determined by their income .. they don't earn much yet they spend a lot ...
welcome to the fall out ...
darkness is all around me (us !) ... though i could see the lights in other Christian .. and many of them are genuine Christian ( and i am encouraged by them).. never waste a minute to share the gospel with others ...
let's wake up y'all..
for those of us who lived in the bible-belt,
this world seeeeeems so far away ...
we have our own Third Day instead of the worldly Maroon 5,
our own KJ 52 instead of the worldly Eminem,
our own Relevant Magazine instead of the US Weekly,
i don't know .. i think those stuff are GREAT ... gives us an alternative from the secular media
that might tempt us ..
but KNOW that there's a need out there ..
let's pray y'all .. let's ask God for directions ..
God can shakes a mountain .. He can save a generation ..

Disasters.
i don't know if you are reading or watching the news at all, but being in East Asia (Taiwan) i am VERY aware of what happened a few days ago, tsunamies attacked a few countries and many people are dead .. it also caused many people to rethink their life (including mine) and their choices ... if you still don't know what i am talking about go to http://www.cnn.com and read the latest news ... and being in the Pacific Rim made me even more nervous .. anyways ... please pray for Gospel opportunities here in the Pacific Rim .. and let God be the HOPE and PEACE for the people. take care y'all

12/23 - 12/25
12/22 - Wednesday
~ we touched down in Taipei International Airport around 11.00 pm local time (9 am CST) , the flight from Tokyo to Taipei was fine except my TV screen was broke, so i didn't get a chance to watch the movies i wanted to , i just slept for 4 hours . So we got the local bus and ride home , that ride was another 2.5 hours .. yeap .. boring, yes. So we got back into Tai Chung (where my parents live) around 1.30 am in the morning .. and oh i got off at the wrong stop too .. my parents came pick us up later on .. and treated us dinner .. yeah .. Taiwan is pretty much a 24/7 country , there are shops opened and food sold every hr of the day .. then we went home and slept. i love my parents' condo .. i'll show y'all pix of it later ..
12/23 - Thursday
~ woke up early in the morning and travelled with my parents and sister to Tai Bao, a town where my parents teach some college classes and ministered at the local church ... so we went there,
the church building is very nice, it's a five stories condo (i'll show y'all pix) ... and we had some good food .. later on this day .. we went on to my parents' campus and shared our lives with their students .. i was "little" shy ... we also sang some praise and worship songs .. another guy from the church shared his testimony .. and that was AWESOME !
12/24 -Friday
~ woke up early in the morning again .. this is because of those annoying rooster .. um ..
it's great to hang out with my dad :o) .. had some good food again .. especially breakfast,
i love the breakfast in Taiwan .. not so much lunch or dinner .. so if i can eat breakfast for the whole entire day, i am happy ! so ... later on this day .. we had some kids at the church, we sang some carols .. and taught them some english .. and that was fun .. i was dead tired .. and shy.
so i went to bed a little past 11 pm.
12/25
~ Christmas Day , no SNOW (ppl in dallas,houston .. congrats for the white christmas) , no gifts, no Santa , no ... well , yes to Christmas music since we can stream that thru Napster .. we did some packing for my parents since they are actually leaving the church in Tai Bao and moving to minister a church in Tai Chung (where they currently lives) ... so we travelled back to Tai Chung again ...
i can't believe my parents drove like this every single week .. they will leave Tai Chung on Wednesday and then leave Tai Bao on Sunday night .. anyways .. we visited my dad's new church in Tai Chung , the people there are awesome (esp. the youth) .. anyways .. we had a Christmas celebration at the church .. that was fun .. again .. (i am still "little" shy to talk to people) ...
we then went to one of the local night market .. there were just SWARM of people .. i meant LOTS and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of people .. ... then we went home and i slept.

12/21 and 12/22
Here's the blog for my trip to Taiwan.
Location : DFW Airport, TX
Time : 11.15 am Central Time (12/21/04)
Nini's dad, Bill, brought us to the airport this morning, Chris tagged along as well.
During the check in time, I was one of the "lucky ones" that were specially screen for security reason (that's what you get for being a minority , just j/k) … flight outta DFW was fine. I did indeed grab a newspaper before I left, nothing big and important happened yesterday … so I'll fly for 13 hours … I'll leave DFW around 11.45 am on 12/21 and I'll touched down in Tokyo around 5.30pm , 12/22/04 ....
Location : Tokyo Narita International Airport
So, the flight to Tokyo was fine, except for a few minutes before landing I was having problem balanced the air pressure in my ear, so my ear was hurting. In addition to that, after flying non-stop for 13 hours, I started to feel a little bit air sick. Anyways, Tokyo Narita is a nice airport, it felt kind of weird to hear the language that I knew (besides English … LOL), and whole lot of language that I don't understand (ie. Japanese .. I need a translator .. Like … Nini … ) anyways .. All is fine. BTW American Airline has a great Jazz Radio station on board, so check that out if you ever fly AA.
Well, I'll call it quit for now, I have another 4 hour flight to Taipei then another 2 hours of Bus Ride to Tai Chung .. Uh , so I'll write more later.
I did some journaling on the plane, God must had read my prayer and poem since I am so much closer to Him (space wise .. Since I am on the air at 10000 + feet … just j/k )

Intermission
It's that time again,
the time of intermission,
where people leave and go take a break,
no, i am not talking about a play,
i am talking about life,
seems like holidays are like intermission,
where people leave for somewhere familiar or unfamiliar to recharge,
to rest and to refresh,
that's what i love about intermission,
not because everyone will be gone forever,
it's just we all need some break to recover and heal the wounds in our heart,
and resume fighting and living when the intermission is over,
so pack up your bags and head out your crib,
find somewhere you like and take a break,
for it's that time again,
the time of intermission.
note:
for this intermission i will be spending my time in Tai Chung, Taiwan with my family,
talk about unfamilliar places , i am not very familiar with Taiwan at all but i hope it's all gonna be great ! .. i'll post pixs and stories while i am over there ...
